Production Blog: Corrections
After a successful day of filming my groupmates and I began to review the footage we filmed the day prior. This process took us around thirty minutes as we shuffled through all of our footage and finally decided upon which footage we would use in the editing process. After this I finalized the order of the our music video and which scenes should be included. Overall this was not very difficult as only a few scenes being where removed.
However, this process revealed a major flaw in our production process which was two improperly shot scenes. These missing scenes where located in the section of the music video where the friend of the main character was knocked unconscious. At first this issue seemed minor however, as I continued to re-watch the video I realized it did not meet the expected standards. Shortly after I decided that the best decision was to to reshoot the scenes that where poorly filmed. To do this I quickly reached out to all of the actors that partook in the scenes affected and we agreed to film on our backup filming date.
Once the backup day rolled around my actors showed up and we began planning how we would reshoot the missing scene. After a quick period of deliberation I decided we would film the attack scene first because it was more simple and could be shot quickly. This is exactly what happened and after two shots my group got the perfect shot and two avoid making the same mistake of improperly filming the shots once again. Next I began the process of filming the next shot in which the assailant following the main characters friend through the hallway. As expected this shot was much more difficult to film as making a convincing argument was much more difficult then expected. However, after around ten takes I finally concluded we had a quality take. This process while grueling produced much higher quality shots then those filmed previously. This process also helped me build a deep connection with my actors and helped me understand how to build connections with my actors.
Overall filming this project was quite difficult and the process of re-filming was difficult and the biggest obstacle I have faced on a project. However, re-filming was a difficult process that I made enjoyable through maintaining a positive aspect and gaining knowledge on how to avoid these mistakes in the future. This project has had many trials and tribulations but for the foreseeable future the filming process has concluded.
