Commercial Reflection

How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social                groups or issues? My project maintained the standard of similar productions within the scope of development. This is most noticeable in our use of media shots on the actions of the actor. My use of camera movements was also like productions as we often utilized tracking shots whether on the ball, the product, or the athlete. We strayed away from basic conventions however in my usage of only non-diegetic sound.  This commercial was produced to display a product that will represent and provide resistance to help athletes and those striving to be athletes make it in the world of sports. This commercial shows this group that there is a product perfect for them and their desires. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real  media text? My project would be distributed during commercial breaks in sporting events on weekend matches. The choice

My Commercial

After finally wrapping up my first major project with my groupmates and it went splendid. Looking back filming this commercial had some bumps along the way but we succeeded in the end. The primary issue my group needs to amend was planning the access to props throughout. This is because on many occasions our lack of a backup plan for delivering props. We also where inconsiderate of time when filming and sometimes messed around which prevented us from getting the top class shot we desired. Despite this shortcoming I improved heavily in having insight on how to film takes and gained a better understanding of the true difficulty of filming. I also learned a lot in the editing process, primarily I got a real taste for how the editing software on mobile functions. These ups and down made the filming of the project relatively stressful but regardless I am really proud of the end result and the improvements I have made. This project was very rewarding technically and because of the experience

Audio Mixing

Today I finished editing my commercial through the addition of audio and transitions. I began this search for audio when I went to YouTube and started watching other sport drink adverts. After looking for a few minutes I discovered the artist tiger blood jewels, I selected this artist because they where relatively unknown but produce quality music. This unknown aspect of the author makes the music seem more like an addition to the video rather then the centerpiece. The music also appealed to me purposely because I enjoy lyric free music especially in videos as they set the tone. Once I found this audio I placed it onto my audio track and began trimming it. I trimmed it by cutting out the middle of the audio and made the beat drop correspond with the athletic focused portion of the ad. This led to me recognizing that the pitch and speed of the audio where insufficient so I sped the audio up and decreased the pitch. After this I adjusted the placement of the audio track to make it l

Time and Order

Today I began the process of determining which shots will be included in the final product and what order they would fit into the puzzle of creating a film. I decided to edit this project on the movie because I felt that using familiar software would allow me to curate the best film I could while I gain a better understanding of the more technical programs for my future projects. I also decided to choose this program because it would let my group easily import the takes we recorded due to the transferability between all of our recording devices. I began this process by ordering the takes based on their desired chronological order and working from there.      Once I compiled the clips in this fashion I started to examine the clips and remove those that clearly were not usable in the final product. This included removing worse versions of retakes and takes that did not align with the view of the commercial I wished to present. This process even involved removing some scenes entirel

Prosperous Performance on The Pitch

On this day my groupmate and I took to the softball field for our second attempt at filming the outdoor portion of our commercial. Today, however, we came supplied with the correct attire and equipment. This preparedness also showed me and my groupmate's progress just in the span of one day. For example, I and my groupmate also improved dramatically by more efficiently filming and by having better insight as to where shots will fall into place in our final product. This is especially shown in the way I and my groupmate shot the first scene of the day.      The first scene that we filmed today on the softball field was a bit stressful because my groupmates forced absence on our last day of filming resulted in us having to expedite the shots of our actor dribbling and performing skill moves with a soccer ball. To do this my partner and I began quickly by setting up the science by placing the bottles of Powerade on the floor and deciding which angle would be best to film th
