Production Blog Editing

As the timer winds down till the final products deadline final changes and alterations are in the works. These changes have included changes to title size, music changes, and overall editing adjustments. An example of this was today when I was tasked with remixing the music levels of the project. This task became necessary after my group remixed and replacement of the original audio in some scenes which completely disrupted the relationship of the music with our project. The first step I took in this process was just relistening to the project with my eyes closed to gather a better understanding of the audio issues. What I noticed from these changes was that the audio levels in scenes with voiceovers seemed really off as the music was way too loud. To fix this issue I decided to recalibrate the music rather than the original audio by turning it down a few notches. These changes made a humongous impact and made the audio even more transcribable. This change also made the audio seem less like a voiceover compared to other scenes. Next, my group pursued the resizing of some of the title cards. The main error with the title cards was deciding the size of the title. This issue was caused by a dispute between our group as to whether the size of the title should be extremely big or smaller to take around 55 percent of the screen. After this debate, my group decided to meet in the middle to make a moderately-sized title. This was easily accomplished through the alteration of my font size which produced no further issues. My group also decided to repeat this process of resizing numerous other titles as the size was too small to perceive from a slight distance. However, this fix was considerably more difficult and I had to manually move the title cards to different areas on the screen not only for visibility but also for aesthetics. This was most difficult in the elevator scene as the lack of contrast made it difficult to make the title card pop out. I saw the most simple fix to this issue by placing the text on top of the elevator door as the change in coloration had the greatest change in contrast. At the end of this title change process, it was apparent that the title cards' visibility drastically increased via changes to size and placement. This editing session was extremely successful and it helped aid in the removal of some of the biggest blotches on our project.
