Audio Mixing
Today I finished editing my commercial through the addition of audio and transitions. I began this search for audio when I went to YouTube and started watching other sport drink adverts. After looking for a few minutes I discovered the artist tiger blood jewels, I selected this artist because they where relatively unknown but produce quality music. This unknown aspect of the author makes the music seem more like an addition to the video rather then the centerpiece. The music also appealed to me purposely because I enjoy lyric free music especially in videos as they set the tone.
Once I found this audio I placed it onto my audio track and began trimming it. I trimmed it by cutting out the middle of the audio and made the beat drop correspond with the athletic focused portion of the ad. This led to me recognizing that the pitch and speed of the audio where insufficient so I sped the audio up and decreased the pitch. After this I adjusted the placement of the audio track to make it link well with the video. Then I made the final adjustment of my audio by raising the audio levels of the actor kicking the ball so that the connection could be heard and would be impactful on the video. This made the music seem perfect and I decided to begin adding my transitions.
I first started my work on the transitions by just viewing the stock video with no standard cuts. This helped me because it made it the quality of the video without effects seem crystal clear and it also showed me how the commercial flowed. Once I saw how it flowed I switched the places of a few clips and once I reviewed the newly edited video it looked way better even without the addition of transitions. This quality regardless of transition inspired me of the quality of my work. Then I began adding my transitions in the order that the video progressed with some clips taking much longer then others. This variation of time was the first obvious red flag of using a mobile editor as it made it much more difficult to edit to the fullest of my imagination. Regardless I got it done and successfully completed all of my transitions.
In totality this day was wonderful for the production of my commercial where I made staggering progress and finished my advert. I also learned a lot about the limitations of the software that I utilize and how short handed iMovie is when handling transitions.
