Prosperous Performance on The Pitch
On this day my groupmate and I took to the softball field for our second attempt at filming the outdoor portion of our commercial. Today, however, we came supplied with the correct attire and equipment. This preparedness also showed me and my groupmate's progress just in the span of one day. For example, I and my groupmate also improved dramatically by more efficiently filming and by having better insight as to where shots will fall into place in our final product. This is especially shown in the way I and my groupmate shot the first scene of the day.
The first scene that we filmed today on the softball field was a bit stressful because my groupmates forced absence on our last day of filming resulted in us having to expedite the shots of our actor dribbling and performing skill moves with a soccer ball. To do this my partner and I began quickly by setting up the science by placing the bottles of Powerade on the floor and deciding which angle would be best to film the shots. Once we completed this process my group began filming first shooting multiple shots where the main character dribbles quickly across the screen then another where the actor dashes across the screen quickly with the camera panning to the right to follow the camera in a close-up shot of the character's legs. After this, we aligned both Powerade on the left of the camera then slowly rolled the ball into the frame. This shot worked out really well after a few attempts and it gave me and my groupmate some closure knowing that the last chronological shot was completed and all we had to do was fill in the middle.
Next, we filmed the most important shot the product shot. We only had two attempts at this shot due to our quantity of Powerade. However, on our first shot, we nailed it with the camera movement, and the upwards pan worked perfectly with the logo facing perfectly at the camera. This shot was taken as an extreme close-up for this reason as it provided enhanced detail of the actor's fatigue and displayed the logo well.
After filming these shots successfully my group mate and I were ecstatic that we finished the shots in such a timely manner we quickly headed to the field with confidence and excitement. Once we reached the field we began by shooting the shot we envision where our actor would power the ball into the top corner of the net. However, problems once again arose as the poor quality of the pitch and goal greatly degraded the quality of the shot. Because of this, we decided to film a variety of shots using our knowledge of angles and camera movement. First I recommended we try an extreme close-up of the feet of the actor which also shows the movement in the grass as the character strikes the ball. Then we began adding movement to the shot followed by the character shooting the ball. After this shot was finally completed we headed in with our filming completed.
