New Beginnings

 


    Hi, my name is Noah Sherman Rocque and I'm a student at Fort Lauderdale high school eager to indulge in the art of film. I was born near my current residence in Fort Lauderdale to my mother, this close proximity to my birthplace has caused me to live a very redundant but fun life as a lot of those I met since I was very little are still my acquaintances. This redundancy also appears in school whereas many others many of the classes taken are extremely similar and the work being done continues to reappear. In my childhood, I also grew up without a father which made it more difficult for me to talk to those who will guide me through life forcing me to explore and create on my own. However, as I begin this class I am hopeful and excited that this new topic that I never imagined myself researching and partaking in gives me hope for an exciting and fun journey. 

    I also believe that this class will help me benefit in my personal life by increasing my knowledge of the media I consume daily. This impact on my daily life has surprisingly begun as to when scrolling through my phone either on Youtube or TikTok I have begun realizing how the way things are shot and planned truly affect the quality of the media we consume. These realizations while funny have already made my knowledge of media much greater and it also allows me to help my friends in creating videos or projects. Despite this, it has been quite annoying heavily critiquing every piece of film I encounter.

    In regard to friendships, this class also excites me because of the relationships I may build with my classmates. These potential relationships I may be able to build in this class truly excite me as the potential to network and make new connections with others is a prospect that makes any student excited. Relationships also are a great way to socialize in the crazy times we live in due to covid-19. This is all thanks to the collaborative nature of media.

    Speaking of future networking and my personal future, since I was young I always had a good work ethic regardless of the importance of the assignment or how terribly useless the topic at hand is. This motivation to do whatever it takes is why I believe in myself regardless of how difficult or boring an assignment is. While I believe this class is none of these things I think that my adaptivity and perseverance will make a completely new topic understandable. This effort I believe is what will cause me to further increase my skill set by taking classes like this. 

    Finally, I believe that this wonderful and new class will help me with my future career not just socially but creatively. I believe that this class's structure and the end result will help me think outside of the box and create new things not only by forcing me to do so but also though teaching me the mechanisms to do so. Overall I believe that Media Studies will help me greatly in life and socially while also forcing my mind to explore a whole new genre of thought.

  How many titles are displayed during the opening sequences to the film? Which ones? This opening sequence had thirteen title screens. The first title was the name of the production company, which was then followed by the two produces of the film. After this the film lists the name of then director, then the sequence lists the two star actors of the film. This is followed by the listing of actors which is concluded by the mentioning of two casting agents. What connotations do the images carry? The images of the title cards specifically those listing the actors Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee. These cards where particularly striking because the designer made these cards much bigger than the other and added a transparency that shows a spooky scenery behind the text. Time and Order

      Today I began the process of determining which shots will be included in the final product and what order they would fit into the puzzle of creating a film. I decided to edit this project on the movie because I felt that using familiar software would allow me to curate the best film I could while I gain a better understanding of the more technical programs for my future projects. I also decided to choose this program because it would let my group easily import the takes we recorded due to the transferability between all of our recording devices. I began this process by ordering the takes based on their desired chronological order and working from there.      Once I compiled the clips in this fashion I started to examine the clips and remove those that clearly were not usable in the final product. Production Blog: Corrections

           After a successful day of filming my groupmates and I began to review the footage we filmed the day prior. This process took us around thirty minutes as we shuffled through all of our footage and finally decided upon which footage we would use in the editing process. After this I finalized the order of the our music video and which scenes should be included. Overall this was not very difficult as only a few scenes being where removed.     However, this process revealed a major flaw in our production process which was two improperly shot scenes. These missing scenes where located in the section of the music video where the friend of the main character was knocked unconscious. At first this issue seemed minor however, as I continued to re-watch the video I realized it did not meet the expected standards.
