Intro Blog

    

    Hi my name is Noah Sherman-Rocque and I have been studying film throughout this year at Fort Lauderdale High School. Entering this year I was nervous about the undertaking of this study and I though that it would be a difficult and sluggish process. However learning the art of film at Fort Lauderdale high school has been exciting and provided many great hands on experiences. Throughout the year I have created two pieces of videography a commercial and a music video. These projects both greatly increased my ability's when creating film by helping me understand the techniques and terms utilized in the film industry. These studies also taught me the workings of the film industry and the strategies and methods they utilized in film creation. All of these learnings and opportunities to improve my film-making abilities have helped me become a more talented experienced film-maker.
     About me, throughout my life I have tried my hardest to do the best I can at any task I am given regardless of the return it would give me. I believe that this philosophy is what has allowed me to grow as a person and help others throughout my life. I was born in 2006 in Fort Lauderdale Florida and have grown up in a single parent home with my mother. Living with one parent has helped me as a person understand the importance of handwork as I have grown up watching my mom work not only for herself but for me as well. While this trait of working hard is a very useful attribute I believe that my most valuable attribute is my ability to communicate with others. Ever since I was little I always have spoken my mind regardless of the situation which I believe allows me to work better while in groups by allowing me to communicate with those around me successfully while allowing me to help the ideas of those not comfortable of blooming. I believe that these personality traits are what have allowed me to succeed in my study of media so far and what will allow me to succeed in my next production.
    At the beginning of this year I was nervous to return to physical education after COVID as I worried about being thrown back into an unfamiliar and new environment with no buffer. However, my study of media has made this process much easier and helped me not only understand the art of film but also form new friendships. The projects that I have created have helped me find people similar to myself who have an interest film and bettering themselves. This class has also taught me to utilize the creativity I never knew I had. 
    Therefore, as I begin to embark on my final creation rather then being nervous or worried I am excited to showcase my newfound abilities. This project will not only be a great challenge but a great opportunity to prove my ability.

  How many titles are displayed during the opening sequences to the film? Which ones? This opening sequence had thirteen title screens. The first title was the name of the production company, which was then followed by the two produces of the film. After this the film lists the name of then director, then the sequence lists the two star actors of the film. This is followed by the listing of actors which is concluded by the mentioning of two casting agents. What connotations do the images carry? The images of the title cards specifically those listing the actors Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee. These cards where particularly striking because the designer made these cards much bigger than the other and added a transparency that shows a spooky scenery behind the text. Furthermore the designer also used the same deep blue color scheme of the text coupled with a thick black border.  How is genre reinforced through symbolic and technical codes from the outset? Time and Order

      Today I began the process of determining which shots will be included in the final product and what order they would fit into the puzzle of creating a film. I decided to edit this project on the movie because I felt that using familiar software would allow me to curate the best film I could while I gain a better understanding of the more technical programs for my future projects. I also decided to choose this program because it would let my group easily import the takes we recorded due to the transferability between all of our recording devices. I began this process by ordering the takes based on their desired chronological order and working from there.      Once I compiled the clips in this fashion I started to examine the clips and remove those that clearly were not usable in the final product. Production Blog: Corrections

           After a successful day of filming my groupmates and I began to review the footage we filmed the day prior. This process took us around thirty minutes as we shuffled through all of our footage and finally decided upon which footage we would use in the editing process. After this I finalized the order of the our music video and which scenes should be included. Overall this was not very difficult as only a few scenes being where removed.     However, this process revealed a major flaw in our production process which was two improperly shot scenes. These missing scenes where located in the section of the music video where the friend of the main character was knocked unconscious. At first this issue seemed minor however, as I continued to re-watch the video I realized it did not meet the expected standards.
