Production Blog: Costume and scheduling mishap

Today my group was set to begin filming our movie. However, this much-awaited and anticipated day was postponed by failures in scheduling and management by all groupmates. This mishap has greatly hindered my group as it put a wrench in my group's entire schedule. This issue in schedule erose from our groupmate who has access to the setting not being able to participate. While at first, this issue may have an obvious fix that being that we switch to our alternate location of filming. However, we decided that not only would this greatly decrease my group's submissions quality. Furthermore, we agreed that it was not wise to film with a replacement for our main character because these changes were too drastic and brash.

The issues we faced today not only are the fault of the setting proprietor but also my other groupmate and myself. For this project, I was tasked with collecting the costumes for the video. Despite this duty, I was unable to gather all of the costumes expected of me. Furthermore, I failed to alert one of our support actors the time that we were filming which caused them to schedule another activity during that timeframe. These issues compounded with those listed prior all contributed to our decision to postpone filming.

My third group member also had a lapse of judgment that negatively affected my group's progression in filming. This groupmate failed to collect the briefcase that was quintessential to our project. He also was unable to acquire the filming accessory that we were to utilize for camera movement and stabilization. This failure to acquire the necessary equipment was the final straw in our group's cancellation of filming on day one.

Overall the first step of my filming process was a complete and utter failure and its effects may echo throughout the rest of the production process. Despite all of these setbacks in every project in my film career, I have dealt with similar or worse adversity. I won't let the mistakes made today carry out throughout my project and I will prevent its residue from eroding our final project. This setback is a lesson for me and the rest of my groupmates and we all understand that our final project cannot afford any more mistakes.
