For this project my group is making a music video for the song Maps by Maroon 5. The music videos created by maroon five and others in this genre all feature a story of love followed by heartbreak while neglecting a happy ending to show the harsh reality of life. In these music videos the actors always wear attire fit to the occasion such as business suits or a butchers outfit while in the workplace. However the outfits always have a trendy style to them that makes a pop culture statement. The music videos often feature props similar to the workplace or items that agree with the title of the video, for example in the payphone music video a payphone is prominently featured as the medium of communication. Other common props include drinks and party games that are used to represent the effects of party culture on relationships. The main characters are always made to look clean and in shape to make them physically appealing to the main stream audience. The characters does change as the sto...

For my music video project I have decided to work again with Felipe Lopez but also with Dartamian Dolorean.  This exciting and riveting project almost provokes the assignee to attempt the task alone however I believe it is most beneficial to me if I attempt this project with a hard-working partners like Felipe and Dartamian. This is because the introduction of a new member will contribute to our collaborative relationship and solve disputes because of the odd number of participants. This introduction will also prevent production errors from slipping through the cracks and introduce new opinions to our discussions. I also felt that the introduction of a new member was must due to music videos usually containing a larger amount of actors and varying camera angles and the addition to another person makes all of those things more possible.      I chose to work again with Felipe because of our long lasting friendship which ensures our col...

New Beginnings

Image
Hi, my name is Noah Sherman Rocque and I'm a student at Fort Lauderdale high school eager to indulge in the art of film. I was born near my current residence in Fort Lauderdale to my mother, this close proximity to my birthplace has caused me to live a very redundant but fun life as a lot of those I met since I was very little are still my acquaintances. This redundancy also appears in school whereas many others many of the classes taken are extremely similar and the work being done continues to reappear. In my childhood, I also grew up without a father which made it more difficult for me to talk to those who will guide me through life forcing me to explore and create on my own. However, as I begin this class I am hopeful and excited that this new topic that I never imagined myself researching and partaking in gives me hope for an exciting and fun journey.      I also believe that this class will help me benefit in my personal life by increasing my kn...

Commercial Reflection

How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social                groups or issues? My project maintained the standard of similar productions within the scope of development. This is most noticeable in our use of media shots on the actions of the actor. My use of camera movements was also like productions as we often utilized tracking shots whether on the ball, the product, or the athlete. We strayed away from basic conventions however in my usage of only non-diegetic sound.  This commercial was produced to display a product that will represent and provide resistance to help athletes and those striving to be athletes make it in the world of sports. This commercial shows this group that there is a product perfect for them and their desires. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real  media text? My project would be distributed during...

My Commercial

Image
After finally wrapping up my first major project with my groupmates and it went splendid. Looking back filming this commercial had some bumps along the way but we succeeded in the end. The primary issue my group needs to amend was planning the access to props throughout. This is because on many occasions our lack of a backup plan for delivering props. We also where inconsiderate of time when filming and sometimes messed around which prevented us from getting the top class shot we desired. Despite this shortcoming I improved heavily in having insight on how to film takes and gained a better understanding of the true difficulty of filming. I also learned a lot in the editing process, primarily I got a real taste for how the editing software on mobile functions. These ups and down made the filming of the project relatively stressful but regardless I am really proud of the end result and the improvements I have made. This project was very rewarding technically and because of the experience...
